PROGRAMS ON THE STEN #7 DISC
============================
The programs with this issue are not STEN freindly, or should that be the
other way around? Despite this they are both very useful.
1 - ALMANAC: Shareware, registration fee $10 - 20
-------------------------------------------------
This is a Canadian shareware program written by Manfred Seirke. It
provides a diary, almanac and calander in one package. It is extremely
easy to use and if it is run first thing each day and updated last thing
at night, no appointments, birthdays or aniversaries need be forgotten
again.
The program runs from the STEN shell but cannot find its year or almanac
files, although it is possible to set and save the paths for these. On
return the text file that is in STEN is corrupt and if scrolled will
overwrite the menu bar. Hopefully I will be able to sort this by the next
issue.
Thanks to Caledonia PDL and New Age PDL for sending the program.
2 - FONECOST: Shareware, registration fee £5.95
-----------------------------------------------
This is one of those small programs that prove to be invaluable if you can
use it to its full. What it does is allow you set various parameters of
your telephone calls, eg Distance, Rate, Time, etc, etc and then display
the cost of the call.
It also can be run as an accessory and will detect when a modem is on line
and display a running total of the cost in the top right column. It will
not run from the STEN shell as it uses a resource file and I haven't
implemented the routine to change the path yet.
The author, R A Gorbutt, has used the latest BT call charges (September
1991) and will the latest version, a printed manual and another program on
registering.
Thanks to Caledonia PDL and SW Software Library for sending the program.
